The North Dakota Highway Patrol and the Walsh County Sheriff’s Department responded to a fatal crash Wednesday morning that occurred at the junction of Highway 32 and Highway 17, which is about five miles west of Park River, ND.

A white 2014 Toyota ran a northbound stop sign at the intersection for unknown reasons, striking a white 2015 Kenworth semi-tractor and trailer that was traveling in the westbound lane.

The driver of the Kenworth was alone in the vehicle and uninjured. The Toyota was occupied by four women. The two women in the back seat succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Toyota was transported to the hospital in Park River where she was treated and released and the front seat passenger was severely injured and transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks where she later died.
